Measurement of apoptosis induced by Hoechst 33,258 staining assay. MCF-7 cells were cultured in 6-well plates at a density of 105 cells/ml and exposed to 100 µM of the most potent compound (7d) for 72 h. The cells were then stained with 2.5 µg/ml Hoechst 33,258 after being fixed with 4% cold paraformaldehyde (PFA) and imaged using a fluorescence microscope (Magnification: 500 X). Apoptotic cells as featured by nuclear shrinkage, fragmentation, condensation, etc., are shown by red arrows
